It's just a Formality

Sorry for the delayed posting. My semester jumped into over drive the past few weeks and today is the first day that I've got a whole afternoon to kill. So naturally... I'm still at my computer... But that's because I've got some fun pics to share! My social club (aka: Harding's equivalent to a sorority) had our spring formal this past weekend. Here are some pics from it!

This is me with my date (my best friend Tripp).

Some more best friends: Melissa and Meagan

And this picture needs a lot of explaining, haha. Tripp and I have a joke going around that we're engaged (I know, only at Harding, right?) and we thought we'd egg it on some more with an "official engagement" picture. Friends and family. Please do not freak out.

More art pics to come soon!

Progress!!!

Hey guys! I held true to my promise and here are some pics of my portrait in progress. I've been working constantly on it for days. It was done from life with a mirror so that's why some of the forms aren't exactly correct, but I'm proud of it at least. I'm going to try to finish the hair today before I leave for spring break. Anyways, let me know what you think!

The background it more black on the right side in person.

New Assignment

Hey everyone! This semester seems to be flying by and with that, a flood of assignment due dates. My new assignment in my painting class is a self-portrait from life using a mirror as my only guide. Yeah, rough. So to prepare myself for the assignment, I googled portrait artists (because I just love google) and came across this amazing artist Sam Dalby. He's got a really cool style that I'd like to replicate in my painting. Here's some examples of what I'm talking about...

I like his combination of blended and rough strokes. It really gives a dynamic feel to the painting.

I'll be sure to upload some pictures of my progress soon if I don't drown in the work load first. Hope everyone has a good week!

Yep, it's true...

And an old one at that.

Yes sir! I turned 21 today. And I'm kinda shocked I've made it this long (and so would you if you knew how clumsy I am). I figured I'd feel older at this age, but honestly... I feel more like 16 than 21. Maybe it's my height... oh, well. Hope everyone is having a great week!

"Clean up on aisle 3"

How cute is this video?! I'd totally go to Walmart everyday if I had the chance of running into Michael Bublé. Enjoy your Valentine's Day weekend!

You, I like.

Valentine's Day is coming up soon and I'm actually kinda excited! First time in a long time that I'll actually be single on V-day, but that doesn't mean I can't spread the love! Here are some pics and ideas that might make you feel like you've been hit by cupid's arrow!
(Excuse the corniness, I just had to get it out of my system.)

I want this stamp.

Super cute "Darcy proposal" hand towel.

Hilarious love note.

Dresses from Martha

Yes.

Sorry, I don't have the links for these pics! Have a great day!

I love art.

My friend and fellow artist, Jessica Smith, is moving to Florence, Italy this summer to be a part of a missions program there called Avanti Italia. She was one of the girls who went to Italy with me in 2008 and she fell in love with everything Italian. She's an amazing painter and she's having to sell a lot of her art work before she leaves. So, naturally, I had to snag one of her beautiful pieces and this is the one I chose.

I'm crazy about it! It totally turned my crappy day into a great one. It's weird how art can be so effective. I look at it and just smile. One of my goals this year is to acquire a piece of art from all the girls who went to Italy with me. All of them are amazing artists and I would love to have a meaningful collection like that. I hope everyone could have a piece of art that changed their day in a positive way. Check out more of Jessica's work on her blogs here and here. One is more about the Avanti Italia program and the other has a lot of her art work on it.
