Hey everyone! This semester seems to be flying by and with that, a flood of assignment due dates. My new assignment in my painting class is a self-portrait from life using a mirror as my only guide. Yeah, rough. So to prepare myself for the assignment, I googled portrait artists (because I just love google) and came across this amazing artist Sam Dalby. He's got a really cool style that I'd like to replicate in my painting. Here's some examples of what I'm talking about...
I like his combination of blended and rough strokes. It really gives a dynamic feel to the painting. I'll be sure to upload some pictures of my progress soon if I don't drown in the work load first. Hope everyone has a good week!
