Upcoming Events

Hey guys! Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have nothing to blame it on other than sheer laziness. During Spring Break I did absolutely nothing (good times) and I really haven't had a lot to do since I got back to school either so I'm just here... twiddling my thumbs. I've got some projects and events coming up that I really need to work on and prepare for, but come on, it's the first few days of spring. I usually blame everything from a head cold to bad moods on the weather and so I think it's fitting that I blame my laziness on it too :)
As for the upcoming events, I have several on my schedule. First is this music festival/craft fair that's going on April 1-2 at Harding called First Thaw. The festival is bringing in bands like The Avett Brothers and The Non-Commissioned Officers. The purpose of First Thaw is to support and educate the public about Heifer International. If you don't know about this amazing organization, follow the link HERE. I'm going to be selling some of my pottery at one of the student art booths and 15% of the profits made from the festival will go to support Heifer International. If you're in the Little Rock/Central Arkansas area during this weekend, you should come out and support this wonderful cause!
My next 2 events are both on April 9th. One is another craft fair called the Harding Bazaar which will be open from 11-4 (again, stop by if you're in the area!). I'll be selling more pottery along with paintings, prints, and photography. I'll be running from that event to my social club's Spring Formal that I've been planning (along with my friend Whitney) so I have a feeling I'm going to be a little nuts that day. Thank goodness my parents are coming down to help with the Bazaar!

Whew.

Looking at all that freaks me out a little. Plus I haven't even thought much about my 10 page art history paper that will be due in the middle of all that. But I'm a lot more at ease about the formal now that we've got a ton of the details nailed down. Our theme is "A Night in Black and White" and here are some pics that I'm drawing inspiration from:

Forgive me, but I don't have sources for any of these pics. They probably came from the wedding blogs located in my daily reads section so check them out! The string ball picture is mine though so I can at least source myself :) We're going with a clean, slightly vintage feel and we're really excited about how everything is falling into place. I'll be sure to take a ton of pictures during all the events and have lots to show and tell :)

Hope you're having a wonderful week!!!

March Madness

WARNING: This post is the most sparatic thing I've ever written. Proceed with caution.

Right now I'm in the middle of Spring Break (hence the lack of posts) but for those of you who were wondering, I think I SPANKED those Praxis II tests! I won't know for sure until my scores come back in about 4 weeks, but I feel confident. I've got 1 more Art test to take and then the PLT so I've still got a ways to go.

But lets talk about what's really important today...

MARCH MADNESS, BABY!!!!!!

Honestly, I'm not that into it... but Kevin is (REALLY is) so he made me fill out a bracket last night.
I'm 2 for 2 right now so we'll see how it goes.

Oh, and it's St. Patty's Day! I'm not wearing green, but I think I should get a pass since I look like a leprechaun on a daily basis.

Also, I'm LOVING today. 70 degrees, windows open, and HGTV on. Just glorious.
I can't help but thank the Lord for days like these.

Hope y'all have a wonderful day!!!!!!

P.S. Please keep praying for Japan. We may feel like we
can't do anything to help the situation, but God always can.

Praxis II: Art Making

It's going to kick my tail.

Along with the 2 other tests that are keeping me from studying for it.

UGH...

I'm done venting now.

First Bulletin Board!

For my pre-student teaching observations I go to a nearby elementary school about 4 hours a week and yesterday I decorated my FIRST bulletin board!!!! The teacher geek in me got ridiculously excited! I also got to teach a lesson on Tuesday and I was ECSTATIC! This week has definitely been encouraging!! I can't wait to be a teacher!

And I fully expect those torches to be in the hands of some 4th grader right now, but oh well :)

Interview for Handiwork

My friend and fellow ChiO, Addie, wanted to interview me for an art documentary for one of her classes and of course I accepted. Any press is good press! She came by while we were setting up the show and helped out and also took pictures during the process. We sat down the other night so she could interview me and here's her finished work! She did such an amazing job! I'm totally in love with it! :)

Check out her blog and the video HERE!

Handiwork: Part 2

The Reception!!!
There was a big turn out on Sunday afternoon and we all had a great time!
My brother Matthew took all these pictures, btw.
I'm so thankful he did because the whole reception was a complete blur to me!

Here's a view from the back corner

And here's a view from the entrance.

 The Mobile!!! It's up!
It took 6 1/2 hours to get that sucker put together and up there so it had better stay...

 Me signing the wanted posters
People are allowed to write what the person in the mug shot is wanted for.

Kevin's wanted for harassing Cubs fans :)

This gives it some scale.

I was so excited about the turn out!

Favorite picture of the day!

My little cousins drew me pictures to put on my "guest book" wall.

Now it's up and I don't have to touch it for a few weeks!! Hooray!!!
Everything you see is for sale (minus my portraits and Chop Suey),
so if you're interested, let me know!

Handiwork: Part 1

Set up took ALL weekend so Matthew decided to document the progress...

It was a mad-house on Friday and Saturday.
We were scrambling around to get everything up and clean.

Everything thing needed touching up it seemed.
Here's Kevin being a trooper, painting blocks white for the ceramics display.

 Touch Ups

 "Is it level?"
"No."
 "...Now?"
 "Definitely no."

Dad being meticulous about every spot.

 Hanging up my prints

 AH!!!!!

Cutting Labels: the bane of my existence

More to come!!!!
