TMI

Now that I'm doing this whole "post everyday" bit, there are some tidbits you need to know about me. Not only am I obsessed with design, color, weddings, oil paint, faces, and ceramics, I also have this ridiculous obsession with kittens. Yes. Kittens. Preferably black ones. I'm pathetic when it comes to kittens on tv, movies, pictures, and especially youtube clips. I don't react in the normal, "Oh, that's cute." No, I'm the person yelling "Oh My Word!!! LOOK AT THAT KITTEN!!!! Isn't it the cutest thing ever?!?!?!" (all in a high pitched little girl voice)... and then proceed to beg my parents for one. Regretfully, the answer is always no. I do try to limit my kitten obsession to the minimum. I don't have any kitten posters (anymore) and I don't buy kitten calendars. No more kitten folders or desktop pictures. However, when I need a pick-me-up, youtube always comes through for me.

So for your viewing pleasure... Kittens.

(Don't judge.)

Fail

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to post more on here and I've been an epic failure. It's not that I don't get on all the time. I get on here and read blogs probably everyday, but I feel like I never have anything good to say. Well, I've always been good at running my mouth, but I don't want this blog to just turn into me babbling about randomness, but one of the main reasons I made this blog is to record things that inspire me. So my new goal is to post everyday. Yep. EVERYDAY. Obnoxious? Maybe. But I want to get in the habit of writing more and inspiring others they way I get inspired by the blogs that I read daily.

So hooray for day 1!

Summer Paintings!

Hey everybody! I've been slaving away in the painting studio for the past 3 weeks and I've finally got some pieces that I was not ashamed to take pics of and show you guys. I've basically lived in my little cubicle 24/7 so I've probably lost a few brain cells due to the fumes... Anyhoo, here are some of the new pieces! The coloring is a bit blown out with the camera I was using so please forgive me... especially you, Matthew.

Life-sized Self Portrait (3'x3' oil)

There's still a lot I'd like to fix, but for only having a week and a half to do it, I'm pretty happy satisfied.
Here's a close up of the body

And here's a close up of the face

I'm not done with this one just yet...

And here's my little 8"x8" "Mug shot" paintings. I plan to do about 16 of these of my friends and put them in my Senior Art show as a feature. I just love the idea of having all my friends painted as felons :)

Lumberjack Lady

Tomorrow is the day... Yep, the day I begin my life-sized self portrait! (EEEEK!) Honestly, I'm pretty nervous about it. Mother and I took pictures this afternoon for me to go off of, and this is the one I picked...

It really captures my inner lumberjack.

My canvas is 3'x3' so it's a tight squeeze, but I think I can get it all in. So now I need your imput.
Is the cardigan too bland?

Should I make it another color?

Please give me some advice because it's starting to bother me and I only have a week to get this sucker done. Thanks!
